RTI Maharashtra questions
- What is the word limit for an RTI application in Maharashtra?
- On rtionline.maharashtra.gov.in the request text is limited to 150 words, and the form shows how many words are left. This is different from the central RTI portal, which allows 3,000 characters.
- How do I fit an RTI request into 150 words?
- Leave out the greeting and your personal details, which have their own fields. Number the points you want information on, one line each, and give the period the records cover. Longer background can go in the supporting PDF.
- Which special characters does the Maharashtra RTI portal allow?
- The form lists comma, full stop, hyphen, underscore, round brackets, slash, at sign, colon, ampersand, question mark, backslash and percent. Apostrophes and quotation marks are not on the list, so Formfix removes them.
- Is this the same as the central RTI portal?
- No. Maharashtra state offices use rtionline.maharashtra.gov.in with a 150 word limit. Central government departments use rtionline.gov.in with a 3,000 character limit. Formfix has a separate corrector for each.
